Today’s quote:

“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned in order to have the life that is waiting for us.” ~ Joseph Campbell

Okay, so we should schedule appointments into our diaries to commit more to our art, but we shouldn’t have a plan?!

Truth be told: One hasn’t anything to do with the other. You should commit yourself to your art, and you should commit yourself to the next step on your journey. Should you have a life-plan laid out however?

You cannot plan life.

It is a feeble attempt to calm our minds, to tell ourselves that we somehow have control over what is happening. In reality, there is only so much we can control – mostly our attitude.

You don’t even know if you will still be alive tomorrow, so why do think, as an example, it is more important to stick with a job you hate for “financial security”? This is not judgemental, it is a simple question to check what really matters to you, and why.

Maybe think about your core values, and then really ask yourself if they are compatible with being an artist.
