Today’s quote:

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you too can become great. ~ Mark Twain

You won’t grow in an environment that never criticises you. You also won’t grow in an environment that criticises you for all the wrong reasons (especially if they are down to jealousy and small-mindedness).

You need to surround yourself with people who want to see you succeed, but who are also not scared to challenge you to make you grow. Making you believe you can be great has nothing to do with mindlessly complimenting you – it is about believing in you. This can mean pushing you hard on occasion, but it will also mean that you have full support when it matters.

Do you have a mentor who is willing to do this? Is your “tribe” really supportive, or just sycophantic?
